Combien coûte une clôture en verre au Québec? Guide de prix au pied linéaire (2026)

How much does a glass fence cost in Quebec? 2026 price guide per linear foot

In Quebec in 2026, the cost of a Habitat Verre glass pool fence installed yourself (DIY) is around $60 per linear foot.

If you prefer to entrust the project to us for professional installation, the investment will be around $95 per linear foot.

The exact price depends on the spigot grade, the finish, the number of panels needed for the total length and the number of self-closing self-latching gates to be installed.

How much does a pool gate cost?

Adding a gate, fitted with a pair of HV 180° self-closing hinges and a self-latching gate latch compliant with the Regulation respecting the safety of residential swimming pools (RLRQ, c. S-3.1.02, r. 1), is billed in addition to the section price.

On average, add $300 per gate.

ComponentBrushed StainlessMatte Black
10 mm tempered glass gate — 36", 34" or 32"$160.00$160.00
HV hinge glass-to-glass or glass-to-flat surface$195.00$205.00
Polymer pool latch with key$75.00$80.00
Gate total$430.00$455.00

(The net added cost of a gate is around $300, since the 36" of 12 mm glass it replaces must be deducted.)

Example: your bill for 40 linear feet

48" pool fence, Residential Brushed Stainless grade, reference configuration (7 panels, free ends, no gate):

Materials only (DIY mode):
$59.08/ft × 40 ft = $2,363 before taxes

Turnkey (materials + installation):
($59.08 + $35.00) × 40 ft = $3,763 before taxes

Add a Brushed Stainless pool gate: + $300 net

Turnkey total with gate: ~ $4,063 before taxes

6 factors that change your price per linear foot

1. Glass height

12 mm tempered glass is billed per linear foot by height:

  • 48" height ≈ $35/lin. ft.
  • 42" height ≈ $30/lin. ft.
  • 36" height ≈ $25/lin. ft.

2. The number of panels needed for your length

Two projects of the same length can have different per-foot costs. A 40-foot perimeter with 7 panels of 68" costs less than a 40-foot perimeter with 10 panels of 48" — more panels means more spigots (2 per panel) and more pinches (between panels). Choose the widest panels possible.

3. The anchor surface

Not all anchoring surfaces are equal, for example:

Concrete slab, paver or wood structure: ready to install. No additional cost.

Porcelain tile over slab: requires diamond bit drilling to avoid cracking the tile (+ $20 per spigot in labour).

4. Foundations to add (flower bed, lawn, soft ground)

If your path crosses a flower bed, lawn or no-foundation zone, you must pour a concrete curb along that section, install a paver base or drive piles or spot footings.

5. Custom-cut panels

Our standard panels cover most projects. However, custom panels (non-standard width, stair descent, notch, mitered corner, etc.) may sometimes be required.

6. Grade and finish choice

Residential vs Commercial: the difference is about $1.75/linear foot. Commercial handles higher wind loads — useful by a lake, on an upper floor or in an exposed zone. For most sheltered backyards, Residential is enough. Note that our turnkey installations always use the Commercial grade.

Brushed Stainless vs Matte Black: Matte Black adds $2.50/linear foot and $25 on the gate (hinge + latch). It's an aesthetic choice — both finishes have the same durability.

Purchase modes: DIY or turnkey

DIY mode — materials only: $51 to $63/lin. ft.

Your order is delivered on a rack or pallet in Quebec. You install yourself with our guide and free phone support. Ideal if you have a ready concrete slab and renovation experience. You save the $35/ft installation — a $1,400 saving on 40 ft.

Turnkey mode — materials + installation: $86 to $98/lin. ft.

Our team comes on site, measures, installs and finishes. Installation billed at $35.00/linear foot, $750 minimum per job. The minimum covers travel, mobilization and minimum on-site time for short sections.

For sections under 21.4 ft, installation effectively costs more than $35/ft due to the minimum.

Tempered glass vs other fence types — a real comparison

Type (48" installed pool fence)Price $/lin. ft.LifespanMaintenance
Chain-link$30 – $5010 – 15 yearsPaint / rust
Ornamental aluminum$60 – $10020 – 25 yearsRinse
Composite$80 – $15015 – 20 yearsCleaning 2×/year
12 mm tempered glass — Habitat Verre turnkey$94 – $9830 years and upOccasional cleaning

The surprise: a turnkey glass fence costs less than an installed composite fence, and stays in the upper range of ornamental aluminum — for an unobstructed view, twice the lifespan and no demanding yearly maintenance.

How to lower your per-foot price

Optimize your plan before buying. Use the fewest panels possible (so the widest — 68", 66", 60") and adapt your measurements to standard widths. Our quote includes this optimization for free.

Go Residential rather than Commercial if your site isn't particularly exposed to wind. Saving: $1.75/ft = $70 on 40 ft.

Stay with Brushed Stainless if the matte black look isn't critical. Saving: $2.50/ft + $25 on the gate = $125 on a typical project.

Prep your surface before our arrival in turnkey mode: clean slab, stable pavers, inspected wood. If you spare us hours of surface prep, the $750 installation minimum stays in place and you avoid extra charges.

Choose DIY mode if you have the skills and a ready surface. You save $35/ft — $1,400 on 40 ft.

Frequently asked questions about price

Does the price change with panel height?

Yes. For the same number of panels and spigots, going from 36" to 48" costs about $10/linear foot more in materials. This is almost entirely the cost of additional glass — hardware stays the same.

Does the per-foot price include the pool gate?

No. The gate is billed extra: $430 in Brushed Stainless or $455 in Matte Black (net cost around $300 after deducting the glass it replaces). It includes the 10 mm tempered glass panel, the HV 180° self-closing hinge set and the polymer self-latching latch with key, all compliant with the Regulation respecting the safety of residential swimming pools (RLRQ, c. S-3.1.02, r. 1).

Why a $750 installation minimum?

The minimum covers mobilization, travel and minimum on-site presence. For sections under 22 linear feet, this minimum applies. Above that, installation comes back to $35/ft.

Can my existing wood deck hold the glass?

Yes, if the structure is sound. You need at least three 2x6 joists in which to anchor each spigot with a 5/16" × 3¼" lag screw. If the structure is undersized, underside reinforcement is possible and part of our service.

Does the price change if I order off-season?

List prices are fixed per linear foot. However, ordering between October and March avoids the summer demand peak and usually gets you faster installation.
